I arrived at the train station and kind of wandered for a bit until, about 15 minutes after my arrival, I saw a car passing by with a person who looked suspiciously like Gray in the passenger seat. They saw me and pulled up so I could get in the back seat with my luggage. The driver was supposedly her grandfather, but neither of the individuals she lived with bore any resemblance to her, so I’m not sure what the relationship is. The resulting drive to Gray’s house was very quick and rough, almost like a Disneyland ride, but we got there. Gray set up Mibbit on her computer so I could get on IRC for a bit while she changed into a red dress for the party. I didn’t know anyone else there, although there was one girl who later added me on Facebook for some reason. I was offered pizza I didn’t really want, then Gray returned and the actual thing began. I only remember parts of it. There was music played on the tv and her friends danced in the living room, then there was a series of speeches and jokes by some of her friends. Most of them had to do with celebrating Gray for being strong enough to quit cutting herself, since that’s what the whole party was about to begin with. One of them told a joke about needing scissors or anything sharp to help Gray with something. At one point, I was actually noticed in the background and said that somebody’s driver was there, since I was dressed far too formally to be attending a party with a bunch of mostly Hispanic high schoolers. Shortly after that, there was some kind of roast of everyone there, where people came up to the microphone and poked fun at everyone else. I took the microphone and made a few jokes, but I only remember one of them. At some point, the party ended? I’m not sure what happened directly after that, but Gray’s actual mother Tony - who I later discovered looked like an older and streetier version of Jenny Slate - arrived to take her and myself away from the party. We ended up with Manny, one of Gray’s mother’s friends, and his family and went to a local bowling alley, where we spent about an hour or so bowling. I don’t remember exactly how long and I don’t remember anything about his family, but I know they were absurdly nice to me for some reason. After bowling, we headed to the house where Tony sort of lived, in the sense that she lived in the guest house behind the actual house and owned by a third set of people. There, I kind of sat awkwardly while people interacted around me. This was around 11pm. Tony was in the process of cleaning up the messy guest house, and I helped a little bit while she blasted “Somebody” by Depeche Mode on loop. Gray went home at some point after that and I was told I’d be sleeping on the couch of the proper house here. Other things I remember from that night but don’t remember when they happened: * After hearing that I hadn’t eaten anything at the party, Tony made me some kind of noodle dish - I think it may have been Hamburger Helper - but I was 70% asleep and barely aware of my own existence by that point. * One of Tony’s street friends - a white woman with a short brunette bob and a denim jacket - came for a visit at the house Tony was living. I’m not sure what the deal with that was, but I remember her talking about blowjobs and cigarettes. She left a short while after that. This may have occurred the following day. Then the next day came and I was awoken with the news that I wouldn’t be spending that day with Gray at all, as I had initially planned, and would instead be spending it with Tony. This was because Gray had been grounded for the specific manner in which she had planned the party. That’s a whole story of itself. A large portion of the morning was spent with Tony driving me around town. She visited the liquor store at one point and visited with a couple of her other friends in a lovely neighbourhood. We had entire long conversations in the car that I had recorded but I’ve since lost the recordings, so I have no idea what they were about. Mostly enthusiastic life advice, things I should be getting out and doing, things I should be planning for. At one point, when she learned that I hadn’t gotten a driver’s license yet, she took me behind a grocery store and let me drive her car a little bit. This was before I had even driven a real car, so it was a big deal at the time. A little while later, the time came for my train ride home, so I ended up packing up. Manny drove me to the train station and we talked a little about his history with Tony and whatnot. Then I headed home and the weekend was over.
